Winter Guide

12 Ways to Have Fun and Stay Warm this Winter

From bowling to rock climbing, Rhode Island has you covered for indoor family fun

Posted

Climb the Walls
Go rock climbing at Rock Spot Climbing Gym, an indoor climbing gym with locations in Lincoln and Peace Dale. The all-ages facilities have 10,000 square feet of climbing space with features that change every six weeks, so no two climbs are the same.

Jump for Joy
When was the last time you jumped on a trampoline? Bring the family to Launch Trampoline Park in Warwick, which has a trampoline dodge ball league. Sky Zone Trampoline Park in Rumford hosts an all-ages Friday night Glow Night, with a live DJ, black lights and an LED show.

Hit the Ice
Pawtucket’s Lynch Arena and North Smithfield’s RI Sports Center both offer public hockey hours during the week, for pickup games for players with their own equipment. URI’s Boss Ice Arena in Kingston offers regular hours for open hockey, public skating, figure skating, skating lessons and rock ‘n skate.

Strike Out
Bowling isn’t always just bowling. Lincoln’s CW Lanes has an arcade, movies, laser tag and a really good restaurant. Lang's Bowlarama in Cranston channels its retro history and has a Mad Men-inspired Skyline Lounge. Warren’s Dudek Lanes has duckpin bowling, rock ‘n bowl and Saturday night extreme bowling. Winter Rock ‘n Bowl at East Providence’s Bowling Academy happens every Friday and Saturday night.

Shoot to Thrill

Who knew shooting lasers could be so fun? United Skates of America in Rumford offers intergalactic laser tag. Mission Combat in West Warwick is part haunted house and part battleground. BattlegroundZ in Lincoln has laser tag, airsoft, paintball and bubble soccer.
