When you want something done right, go to the experts. That includes dinner. Here are classic Rhode Island eateries that have been around for decades and are still as delicious as ever.
1. At Wright’s Farm in Harrisville, the Galleshaw family has been serving up their classic, family-style meals to generations of hungry Rhode Islanders for over 50 years. The food is simple, but it’s simply delicious: plates of roasted chicken, fresh-baked rolls, salad with Wright’s Farm signature dressing, pasta with Wright’s Farm’s own marinara and home style French fries.
2. The original Iggy’s Doughboys & Chowder House opened in Narragansett in 1924, and generations of the Gravino family have been delivering their iconic clam shack fare ever since. Now, the restaurant has two additional locations in Warwick, plus a creamery.
5. Champlin’s Seafood has been serving fresh-off-the-boat seafood since the 1940s, in both its downstairs market and its upstairs Seafood Deck. The Galilee institution even ships their seafood anywhere in the US, including live lobsters.
6. Caserta Pizza opened on Providence’s Federal Hill in 1953, and has been an Ocean State favorite ever since. Caserta serves up huge pizzas made with hand-tossed dough, house-made sauce and a curated selection of choice ingredients.
