Coast Guard House is a Shore Thing

Posted

There are waterfront restaurants, and then there’s Coast Guard House, where the waves crash against the rocks as you eat, and you’re truly immersed in an oceanside experience. Built in the late 1800s, Coast Guard House opened in 1940 and serves up unforgettable dining, with perfectly fresh seafood, locally sourced ingredients and a curated wine selection from their sommelier. All that, with views for days of Narragansett Town Beach, the sea wall and Narragansett Bay. Though the views are spectacular, it’s the food that’s the real star. Coast Guard House’s chefs are committed to finding the freshest, most local, most in-season ingredients possible, and that commitment is evident in the food. Classic seafood preparations, steaks, pastas… plus their legendary brunch. The list goes on – but you’ll just have to try it for yourself.

Outdoor Dining
While the dining room is a more formal experience, there are two more casual ways to enjoy Coast Guard House. The roof deck has a laid-back vibe – as in, feel comfortable heading there after the beach – and serves raw bar, fried seafood, lobster rolls, sandwiches and salads. The roof deck has two outdoor bars, one on the open air side and one under an awning to escape the heat. This summer, a third bar was added downstairs on the patio under sweeping sails. There’s also the unique experience of having apps and drinks on the oceanfront terrace in an Adirondack chair.
