Festive Firs From Rhody Farms

1. Healey Farm in North Kingstown reopens for weekends November 24-December 23. You can cut down your own tree or take home a selection of pre-cut options, and they’ve also got handmade wreaths to choose from.

2. Big John Leyden’s Tree Farm isn’t just a clever name. With more than 100,000 trees in multiple varieties – not to mention that the provided the State House with its 20-foot beast of a tree last year – this West Greenwich farm is overflowing (or should we say overgrowing) with holiday cheer.

3. The Christmas Farm at Exeter’s Tilted Barn Brewery offers the one-two punch of getting to pick out a locally grown Christmas tree and sample some of Rhode Island’s most talked about craft brews.

4. In Chepatchet, Petersen Tree Farm kicks off its tree cutting season the day after Thanksgiving. Guest will be provided with a saw – in case you can’t find yours in the shed – and can pick out wreaths made from locally grown greens.

5. Tagging has already started at Henry’s Christmas Tree Farm in Hope but that doesn’t mean you’ve missed out. There’s still plenty of time to pick, tag and cut between now and Christmas.

6. Bedrock Tree Farm in Wakefield will be open daily the day after Thanksgiving with pre-cut and cut-your-own options. And if you need some stocking stuffers, they also offer a variety of products made on-site from fir needles, like soaps, candles and salt scrubs.
