The Savory Grape offers tastings for all palates and levels of expertise

For some, beverage tastings can be undaunting – a time to relax, socialize, and engage in sophisticated conversation about sophisticated products. For others, the event can be uncomfortable because they’re unfamiliar with the beverages and the way to approach enjoying them. At The Savory Grape, however, General Manager Tulay Lawton assures us that their tastings are for all levels of wine, beer, and spirit lovers.

Tastings at The Savory Grape are somewhat of a cocktail soiree. At the event itself, there are a variety of bottles presented to the guests, each centered around a theme and paired with cheese and crackers from Dave’s Market. Tulay says, “We have the most amazing customers who love to talk about wine with us. They’re a lot of fun.” And, what enhances these tastings are the interactions that guests get to have with the makers themselves who occasionally attend. The East Greenwich liquor purveyor also prides itself on supporting local and regional winemakers, distillers, and brewers like Sons of Liberty, Newport Craft, Grey Sail, Whalers, and Foolproof, to name a few.

What’s the best way to enjoy a Savory Grape tasting? According to Tulay, just have fun. The staff has prepared the activity to be light and educational with very little knowledge or expertise required. “Come with an open mind, try new bottles, and don’t be afraid to ask questions...We love talking about wine and there’s nothing more gratifying than helping a customer find a new favorite.”

The Savory Grape hosts tastings weekly on Fridays from 4pm-7pm and on Saturdays from 2pm-4pm and 4pm-6pm. East Greenwich
