It all started with a seed. A homemade dry-roasted pumpkin seed, to be exact. The Conte siblings Sennen, Galen, and Elizabeth brought the from-scratch snack – the product of a recipe that had been passed down through generations – to a Halloween party, and it was a hit. From there, the trio’s passion for healthy, handcrafted eats turned into Gerbs, an all-natural food line based out of Johnston. Today, Gerbs (the oldest brother’s nickname for his kitchen savvy siblings) sells everything from seed butters to seed mixes, including the tried-and-true pumpkin variety.
