Yoga and other workouts are on tap at these four local breweries and wineries

Life is all about balance. Some days, you’re determined to stay on track with your health goals and hit the gym. Other times, your idea of a “rep” is lifting a glass to your mouth. Lucky for you, local breweries and wineries are offering yoga classes.

After a busy day, the only thing more relaxing than sitting down with a cold brew is taking a yoga class to go with it. Yes, this really exists. On the second Wednesday of every month, Foolproof Brewing Company, in partnership with Nanaquacket Yoga Studio, offers a one-hour vinyasa yoga class in the Pawtucket brewery. After the class, enjoy a craft beer sampling of four 4-ounce pours. Pro tip: Make sure to sign up beforehand, as the space can only accommodate up to 20 people downward-dogging on mats at a time.

For relaxation with a stunning farm view – and little bit of a South Coast adventure – look no further than South Coast Yoga’s Yoga & Brew at Buzzards Bay Brewing in Westport. The class, which happens on August 19 and September 9, runs for an hour and will have you feeling blissed out by the time the brewery opens in the afternoon. The cost of the class gets you a pint of your choice, and a food truck will be on site to satisfy the appetite you’ll have worked up.

With a building that’s over 11,500 square feet, The Purple Cat in Chepachet is a perfect spot for letting loose. Every Wednesday at 6:30pm, get ready to shake it like you mean it at Zumba class, hosted in the building’s function room with enough space for 135 people. If winding down with yoga is more your style, catch a class every other Thursday at 7pm. Both classes are held outdoors when the weather is nice.

With an expansive property of lush greenery and grapes, Newport Vineyards is the perfect spot to get your vinyasa on. Hosted once a month by the vineyard with Thames Street Yoga & Shunya Studio, yogis can “wine” down and enjoy a wine tasting afterward. Guests must purchase a ticket beforehand, which covers the hour-and-15-minute yoga class and wine tasting samples. Classes are year-round and held indoors or outdoors, depending on the weather.
