Your Weekend Must-Do's in RI

Posted

Now-November 4: Catch the final weekend of The Tennesee Williams’ classic The Night of the Iguana, an unforgettable tale of desire, love, and personal redemption performing at The Gamm Theatre in Warwick.

November 2: The Princess Bride: An Inconceivable Night with Cary Elwes at The Vets Auditorium brings together a screening of the classic ‘80s film and a behind-the-scenes look with the star that played beloved protagonist Westley. Fans can learn about life on and off the set, including every secret, scene, and inconceivable antic.

November 2-3: Donate or purchase secondhand jewelry at the Fabulous Jewelry Sale, a library super fundraiser. Find bargains and one-of-a-kind items, with proceeds benefiting the East Greenwich Free Library.

November 2-4: Geek out once more at this year’s RI Comic Con. The weekend-long convention invites comic, movie, and science fiction fans to converge at the RI Convention Center to meet n’ greet both characters and creators. Find your favorites from  Tim Curry (The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Clue), to Danny Trejo (Sons of Anarchy, Predators), and more!

November 3: Now that Halloween has come and gone, what are we supposed to do with all of those leftover pumpkins? Launch them from a trebuchet, obviously. Watch pumpkins soar – and smash – at the Farmer’s Daughter’s annual Pumpkin Launch in Wakefield.

November 3: Eat, drink, and shop to your heart’s content at the Holiday Showcase Craft Fairtaking place at Green Valley Country Club in Portsmouth. Browse locally made holiday creations like jewelry, crafts, home decor, and more. ‘Tis the season for gift giving!

November 3: The slightly crisp temperatures in fall make for great running weather. Walk, jog, or sprint the Race for Open Space, a 5K loop course along the Sakonnet Greenway Trail. Bring a canned good donation for the MLK Community Center, and after the run, enjoy refreshments and lawn games.

November 3-4: For a special two-day event, artists from the around the region display their intricate and realistic wooden renditions of wildlife such as songbirds, raptors, and waterfowl in Bristol at the Audubon Bird and Wildlife Carving Exposition. Watch demonstrations, talk to the makers, and purchase your favorite carved creation.

November 4:
Prepare to rock out in Olneyville at Fete Music Hall for Providence Metal Fest 6 with Whitechapel and DevilDriver, plus other killer metal acts like Chelsea Grin, Oceano, Slaughter to Prevail, and more.
