Barbecue Season Sizzles Back to Life at Smoke House in Newport

New menu drops, killer cocktails, and a patio made for golden hour make this Newport hot spot a must-visit

When the smoker fires up at Smoke House, summer has officially arrived in Newport. Nestled at the corner of America’s Cup Avenue and Scott’s Wharf, this breezy barbecue favorite is back for the season – bringing bold flavors, creative cocktails, and a patio perfect for golden hour hangs.

Now open daily for lunch and dinner, Smoke House leans into its Southern roots while mixing in new menu highlights that are anything but expected. Returning fan favorites like hog wings, pretzels, and nachos are joined by crave-worthy newcomers, including a bubbling corn dip loaded with smoked Velveeta and topped with a cornbread-bacon crumble, and crispy fried pickles with smoky house aioli.

The mains still steal the show. From brisket and baby back ribs to pulled pork and a new mega-combo MOA-BBQ Platter – featuring five different smoked meats and three sides  - Smoke House isn’t playing it safe. Burger lovers can sink their teeth into the Smoke Stack, a two-handed tower of BBQ pork, smoked gouda, a beer-battered onion ring, and a juicy beef patty. Even plant-based diners can dig in, thanks to a citrusy hummus and veggie wrap that delivers on flavor and freshness.

Behind the bar, the season’s cocktail list keeps things cool. Highlights include the Kentucky Vice, a coconut fat-washed Old Forester 100 that’s equal parts rich and refreshing, and the Empress Haze, a floral-forward mix of lavender, mint, and Empress gin. Zero-proof sippers won’t feel left out either with the Don’t Make Me Blush mocktail, a sparkling pink refresher that’s pure summer in a glass.

With its laid-back energy, punchy plates, and prime patio real estate, Smoke House is once again Newport’s go-to for casual summer dining. Smoke House is open Sunday–Thursday from 11:30am-8pm and Friday–Saturday until 9pm.  Explore the full menu and plan your visit at SmokehouseNewport.com.
