Get in the Porchfest Spirit Early With a May 3 Music Night at Narragansett Brewery

Two local bands, no cover, and plenty of community pride fuel this brewery fundraiser for Providence’s annual music crawl

Before porches across the East Side come alive with music this June, the celebration gets a head start at Narragansett Brewery, and you’re invited. On Saturday, May 3, the brewery will host a high-energy, no-cover fundraiser for Providence Porchfest, the city’s much-loved front-lawn music festival.

From 6-9pm, two of Providence’s favorite cover bands – Funkademic, the city’s own groove powerhouse, and Stoneaways, a dynamic student group from Brown University – will take over the taproom with feel-good tunes and local pride.

Admission is free, but donations are encouraged to support the third annual Porchfest, scheduled for Saturday, June 7. Official 2025 Porchfest t-shirts will also be available for purchase, letting fans show off their neighborhood music cred in style.

The brewery bash embodies what Porchfest is all about: celebrating homegrown talent, building community, and coming together for a uniquely Rhode Island experience – complete with great music, good vibes, and maybe a pint or two.

And the main event promises to be bigger than ever. On June 7, from 12-6pm, more than 100 performances will light up porches, stoops, and sidewalks throughout the East Side. Part music crawl, part neighborhood block party, the day’s lineup features local favorites like Mark Cutler, Allysen Callery, High Planes, The Lazy Susans, and many more.

Originally launched in Ithaca, New York in 2007, Porchfest has since grown into a nationwide movement, with more than 175 cities taking part. But Providence adds its own flavor, combining walkable neighborhoods with creative energy and an open-door spirit that makes it feel right at home.
