A Crowd Pleasing Experience
McBride’s Pub is a popular neighborhood restaurant with some unexpected and unique surprises. Housed in the former garage of the Monahan, Drabble and Sherman Funeral Home, the restaurant and bar is a lively spot that serves a mouth-watering variety of American and Irish comfort food.
Brothers Mark and Bob Russell, owners of the adjoined funeral home, were inspired to open their restaurant during a family trip to Ireland when they came across a charming pub named McBride’s in the town of Balleyjamesduff. Behind the small pub was a funeral home with the same name, and also owned by a set of brothers. With a shared vision to bring great pub fare stateside, the brothers repurposed the underused garage space to create the bustling Wayland Square spot.
Their sizeable menu offers consistently superb food with an Irish twist, like the crowd-pleasing McBride’s Irish Nachos, Angus Beef Sliders, Corned Beef Reuben, Fish and Chips and Corned Beef and Cabbage. Housemade desserts, like the customer favorite Agnes McBride’s Apple Pie, are devilishly good.
A Lively Bar Scene
The full bar carries eight beers on draft and an impressive selection of bottled beers, wines and spirits. Tongue-in-cheek signature cocktails include A Good Stiff Drink, which has a generous pour of Jameson’s Irish Whiskey, and the Six Feet Under, a mixed drink that’s sure to dull your worries. Every night at 10pm, the establishment runs a poignant “last call,” where the bar and patrons recognize someone who has “gone to the other side.” From family-friendly grub to the perfect pour of Guinness, there’s plenty of ways to have a great time at McBride’s.
Summer Patio: McBride’s Pub serves their full menu on their outdoor patio. Overlooking the Square, it’s the perfect place for a pint… or to people watch.
Live Entertainment: What’s a pub without a lively scene? McBride’s delivers with live entertainment three days a week and trivia on Wednesday nights.
