Newport Folk Festival Marks 66 Years of Music, Unity, and Tradition

Fort Adams State Park to host iconic summer event featuring dynamic performances, workshops, and community celebrations

This summer, music lovers will flock to Fort Adams State Park in Rhode Island as the legendary Newport Folk Festival marks its 66th anniversary. Running July 25-27, the festival continues to shine as one of America’s most cherished music traditions.

For over six decades, the Newport Folk Festival has been a beacon of hope and unity, offering new and seasoned artists a stage to perform while fostering meaningful connections among fans. This year, the tradition lives on, with a promising lineup of talent, along with interactive workshops and vibrant community gatherings, all celebrating the power of music to bring people together.

One of the festival’s standout features is the Newport Folk Stewardship Program, launched last year to honor individuals who have left an indelible mark on the festival’s history. The inaugural Newport Folk Steward, Nathaniel Rateliff – acclaimed artist, bandleader, and advocate for musicians – has dedicated his three-year term to fostering mentorship and collaboration within the Fort Adams community and beyond. His efforts embody the festival’s mission to inspire future generations and sustain its legacy as a cultural cornerstone.

The Newport Folk Festival’s impact doesn’t end when the last note fades. Through the Newport Festivals Foundation, the organization continues its year-round mission of spreading hope through music and community. By supporting music education programs and providing financial relief to musicians in need, the foundation ensures the festival’s spirit resonates far beyond Rhode Island’s scenic shores. Tickets for Newport Folkfest go on sale Wednesday, February 5, at 1pm, and sell out fast. For more details and to reserve your spot, visit NewportFolk.org.
