Thanksgiving is here, and to keep the celebrations happening after hosting, here are ten holiday happenings around the state guaranteed to please even the Scrooges in the family. Shop ‘til you drop at themed markets for Small Business Saturday, walk off your Thanksgiving meal, sip warm hot cocoa, and ring in the winter holidays with cookies, tree lightings, and more!

Avoid the Black Friday crowds and kick off your holiday shopping season with the Blackstone River Holiday Glass & Craft Show. Browse the handiwork of local artisans and be awed by delicate glass Christmas trees sure to make your home festive. Friday-Sunday, Cumberland

Do good and get goods at the 32nd Annual Ocean State Artisans Holiday Craft Show, one of the largest craft shows in the state, with made-to-order wreaths, and visits with Santa and the Mrs. Admission fees will be donated to charities. Friday-Sunday, East Greenwich

Baby it’s cold outside, so after your wintry stroll along the Cliff Walk or shopping session through the wharf, stop by The Chanler’s Hot Chocolate Bar for a cozy, crackling fire and a hot cuppa to warm up. Saturdays and Sundays throughout winter, Newport

‘Tis the season of thankfulness, giving, and compassion, and you can find it all at West Place Animal Sanctuary’s Holiday Shopping Stroll. Take a walk around the grounds, meet the farm rescues on a guided tour, and shop for handmade gifts. Friday-Sunday, Tiverton 

FRIDAY, November 24

Walk off the Thanksgiving feast and food coma with a guided four-mile Wolf Hill Hike. Visit Airmen Memorial, the site of a WWII military plane crash, and climb up to Mercer Outlook to view the Providence skyline. Register online, Smithfield

SATURDAY, November 25

Mapleville Farm’s Holiday Cookie Spectacular returns, starting on Small Business Saturday. Come for merry-making, music, cocoa on the house, an ugly sweater throwdown, and more cookies than Santa could eat! Mapleville

A traditional German Christmas market comes to Rhode Island featuring local artisans and craftspeople selling gifts for your stockings. It isn’t a Christkindlmarkt without good eats, Glüwein (mulled wine), goulash, and sweet treats. Pawtucket, 12-5pm 

The Garden City Center transforms into a classic Christmas wonderland for It’s a Wonderful Stroll. Sing carols, watch street performers, engage in a scavenger hunt and crafts, and end the night with Santa’s grand entrance and a tree lighting ceremony. 2-6pm, Cranston

Shop Small Business Saturday with Celebrate Downcity, featuring indoor and outdoor merry-making with food trucks, performances, music, restaurant specials, pop-ups, photos with Santa and Ballet RI’s Nutcracker characters, and more. 11am-4pm, Providence

O Tannenbaum! Ring in the Christmas season with caroling and cocoa at the Ocean House’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. When the big man in red flips the switch and the lights on the tree glow, it will be impossible to not shout “Merry Christmas!” 5-5:30pm, Watch Hill
