From trick-or-treating to costume parades and contests, Rhody event hosts are pulling out all the stops to celebrate pre-Halloween weekend with family-friendly fetes, dance parties, metaphysical outings, and even a night carnival. And if spooky isn’t your scene, catch artsy and foodie happenings, too.

ALL WEEKEND

Celebrate A Coggeshall Halloween at the farm, a chance for kiddos to visit themed trick-or-treat stations, carve a pumpkin or turnip head, play games, and solve a mystery! Don’t miss a special magician guest, too. Saturday-Sunday, tickets online, Bristol

Take a self-guided tour showcasing creatives in Warwick, North Kingstown, and East Greenwich for the West Bay Open Studios. Download the map online, hop in the car, and be inspired by visiting artists’ studios. Saturday-Sunday, 11am-5pm, various locations

By day, Spooky Zoo offers trick-or-treating and autumnal fun for the whole fam on Saturday, from touch-a-trucks to costumed characters, before Roger Williams Park Zoo continues the nighttime Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular at 6pm, nightly through November 2. Tickets online, Providence  

THURSDAY, October 24

Support Youth Pride Inc. and their work for LGBTQ+ youth at their annual soiree and fundraiser, Wild and Precious at Fête Lounge. Dress to impress for their costume contest, and stick around for The Rise and Fall of a New England Princess. Tickets online, Providence

FRIDAY, October 25

Costumes are encouraged at the Soul Power Halloween Dance Party! Askew transforms into an old-school dance hall with DJs spinning dangerous doowops, monster mambos, horror punk, and many more genres of spooky tunes. 10pm-2am, Providence

SATURDAY, October 26

From puppet theater performances to rousing brass band music, the Samhain Night Creature Carnival delights all ages at Hawk & Handsaw Farm. Games, crafts, a costume parade, potluck fare, and a bonfire are also in store. Venmo ticketing online, Portsmouth

The Wakefield Halloween Stroll offers all ages a chance to don their spooky or silly get-up for the costume contest and parade starting at 1pm, along with trick-or-treating with local merchants and more fun hosted by the South County YMCA. 1-3pm, Wakefield
