Fall brings festive fun and seasonal flavors to the Ocean State

Saturday is the official first day of fall, and rain or shine, Lil’ Rhody will be abuzz with festivals and family fun! Get lost in a corn maze, browse goods and sample bites from local vendors, listen to live music, sip seasonal brews, learn from local exhibitors, and more. Raise a pumpkin-spiced latte to our state’s most colorful season!

Get into the spirit of the season with The Farmer’s Daughter’s Fall Harvest Festival, kicking off this weekend with hayrides, a corn maze, and more fun for the kiddos, plus all the heirloom pumpkins and decor you could need! Weekends through October 29, Wakefield

SATURDAY, September 23

Step into fall by appreciating local art and enjoying refreshments at Four Corners Gallery for their Autumnal Equinox Reception, featuring local artists Jennifer Jones Rashleigh and Ashley Ainsworth. 5-7pm, Tiverton

It’s part farmers market, part curated shopping experience at the Bristol Vintage Market Pop-Up taking over Mount Hope Farm with booths of vintage and artisan vendors displaying a little bit of everything, from farmhouse chic to mid-century modern. 9am-2pm, Bristol 

Spark curiosity for design, science, and technology at Fabrication Fest, presented by the Rhode Island Computer Museum and DESIGN WEEK RI, with a range of exhibitors inspiring novices and experts alike to get creative at 195 District Park. 1-5pm, Providence

Learn about herbalism through workshops, speakers, and vendors at the Herb Festival, where all are welcome to engage in community circles and plant walks while enjoying music and food trucks on hand, plus activities for kids. Register online, Providence

Get tickets before they sell out to RI Vegtoberfest at Trinity Beer Garden, a vegan marketplace of all things plant-based with samples from local breweries and restaurants, plus artists, makers, and food businesses selling goods. Rain date Sunday, tickets online, Providence 

There’s no better way to take in the fall breeze than laying out a blanket (or swaying under the pavilion in case of rain!) at Revive the Root’s Rootstock, featuring a lineup of folksy bands, along with arts and crafts for all ages and farm-fresh snacks. Register online, Smithfield

SUNDAY, September 24

The early bird gets the worm – set your alarm so you can greet the dawn with them for Birding at Snake Den Farm, presented by Northern Rhode Island Conservation District, with binoculars provided and beginners welcome. Register online, Johnston

It’s a day of family fun at the Cranston Fall Festival, hosted by We Be Jammin’ and city partners, with local vendors and businesses, food trucks, live entertainment, beer garden, and designated areas for children's activities and a touch-a-truck. 10am-5pm, Cranston

Grey Sail Brewing’s Oktoberfest revelry includes live music by the Vagabonds, Bavarian-inspired bites, stein hoisting, and, of course, German-style beer flowing from the taps – wearing lederhosen and dirndl is encouraged! 12-7pm, Westerly
