27th Annual Regional Art Exhibit: This will be a juried show of original and unique fine art pieces in any medium. Designed to exhibit some of the best and most unique artists the region has to offer. September 30-November 1 in Westerly. 

 

Block Island Art Trail: Explore galleries, shops, and studios on this self-guided tour. Download a map or pick one up at 104 Spring Street. Through November.

 

Block Island Farmers Market: Every Saturday at Legion Park and Wednesdays at Spring House. Through October 10. 

 

Coastal Growers Market: Support local farmers and shop for specialty products including organic produce, pasture-fed meats, locally raised shellfish, baked goods, sweeteners, flowers, and more. Saturdays at Casey Farm in Saunderstown.

 

General Stanton Outdoor Flea Market: The oldest, continually operating flea market in Rhode Island. Weekends through October 12 in Charlestown.

 

Stargazing Nights: On clear Friday evenings head to what Yankee Magazine called the “Best Stargazing in New England” at Frosty Drew Observatory in Charlestown. See the rings of Saturn, Milky Way, and more, conditions permitting.

 

Wine & Paint on the Patio: Outdoor painting sessions at The Contemporary Theater Company in Wakefield transform the riverfront performance stage into a painting demo every Tuesday and Sunday through September.

 

Glass Float Project: Go on a scavenger hunt around Block Island to find one of the glass orbs carefully hidden throughout the island’s beaches and Greenway trails, and then register your prize online. 

 

93rd Members’ Annual Exhibit: The South County Art Association’s showcase of member work takes place throughout the month of October with a virtual jurors’ talk and awards presentation.

September 2-27: 20/20 Vision: Seeing the World At Peace

Featuring artists Jane Robbins and Nancy Neilsen, this Artists’ Cooperative of Westerly exhibit  focuses on longing, potential, and possibilities for the world realized in art. 

 

September 11: Guy Fawkes Bonfire

The Misquamicut Players re-enact Monty Python’s parody of Guy Fawkes’ attempt to blow up Parliament in 1605. With a bonfire and a comedic act this night at the Misquamicut Drive-In will be full of laughs. 

 

September 18-20: Folk Art Quilt Show

The South County Museum in Narragansett will continue to celebrate the history of quilting and contemporary forms in its annual show, showcasing quilts from local makers. 

 

September 19: Jamestown Rhode Race

This year’s race goes virtual with weekly raffles and contests. The best part? Tackle the 13-mile goal one mile at a time if you want to, and enjoy the scenery of Conanicut Island. 

 

September 19: Virtual Great Art Heist

Purchase a ticket to claim one of the member-donated works of art for South County Art Association’s lively fundraiser event. 

 

September 20 and October 18: Watercolor Workshop

This all-outdoor workshop at Casey Farm in Saunderstown includes a landscape painting demonstration and composition guidance as you capture the many facets of the farm buildings and grounds. 

 

September 25-October 18: 8th Annual Poetry & Art

Wickford Art Association’s exhibit showcases the reciprocal relationship between poetry and art, featuring 40 original poems inspired by 40 works of art. 

 

September 29: Ocean State Tour de Cure

Ride, run, or walk around your neighborhood for this year’s virtual edition, united under one mission: To raise awareness and funds for the American Diabetes Association. 

 

October 11: Block Island Half Marathon

Enjoy a workout with a view as this half marathon takes you past beach dunes, the North Lighthouse, and rolling pastures.

October 24-25: West Bay Open Studios

October 31:  Supermoon Viewing Event
