Spring Flavors Bloom with Two Distinct Dining Experiences from Newport Restaurant Group

Spring in Rhode Island is in full swing, and the Newport Restaurant Group is serving up two unforgettable culinary experiences that are sure to satisfy every palate. Whether you're drawn to Italian comfort or craving world-class wines from Napa, the end of April offers two events worth booking in advance.

A waterfront favorite, 22 Bowen’s Wine Bar & Grille is turning up the charm on April 23 for an exclusive Canard Vineyard Wine Dinner. This four-course event will spotlight exceptional wines from Napa Valley’s acclaimed Canard Vineyard, guided by managing director Adam Fox. “Each wine tells a story of our historic Calistoga vineyard,” says Fox. “We’re excited to share the craftsmanship and care that go into every bottle.”

From the first bite of Frutti di Mare paired with the crisp 2023 Canard Vineyard Rosé – highlighted by notes of wild strawberry and ruby red grapefruit – to the grand finale of New York Strip with morel demi-glace, served alongside a bold 2019 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, the evening is designed to delight both wine lovers and food aficionados. “It’s a celebration of flavor and craftsmanship,” adds Fox, who will personally guide guests through each pairing sourced directly from the Calistoga estate.

Meanwhile, over in Cranston’s Garden City Center, Avvio Ristorante is offering a more laid-back, yet equally sophisticated, Italian dining experience. Available nightly through April 27, the restaurant’s Best of Italy prix fixe menu offers a deliciously curated three-course journey.


For a set per-person price, guests can mix and match from a tempting lineup. Appetizers include Stuffed Sweet Pepper filled with arborio rice, hot Italian sausage, and scamorza cheese, or the crisp Mozzarella & Tomato, pan-fried and finished with a rich tomato sugo. Entrees range from Genovese braised beef over mezze rigatoni to whole wood-roasted sea bass, finished with citrus and herb butter. For dessert, diners can choose between a classic cannoli or Fragola, a refreshing strawberry gelato topped with strawberry sauce.
