A Very Vinyl Holiday

Posted

This year, April 22 will mark the tenth anniversary of Record Store Day (RSD), an annual event for record store owners, audiophiles and people who love music to come together and celebrate all things vinyl. Across the country there will be thousands of record deals, exclusive RSD vinyl releases and appearances from artists who want to give back to their fans and in Rhode Island there are 13 stores that identify as record shops and 10 of those stores are RSD Pledged. Those shops include – but certainly aren’t limited to – Music Box and Vinyl Guru Record Shop in Newport, Armageddon Shop, Olympic Records and What Cheer Records and Vintage in Providence, Looney Tunes in Wakefield and In Your Ear in Warren.

RSD participants are stores that define themselves as brick-and-mortar and whose ownership is 70% in the state in which they’re located (hello shopping local!). Clear your schedule. Between digging through bins, catching appearances from local musicians and listening to that stack of new wax you’re going to bring home, it’s going to be a long, rockin’ day.
