The Gamm Theatre Concludes Season 39 with Doubt: A Parable

The Gamm Theatre concludes its 39th season with a show not to be missed: Doubt: A Parable has not lost its provocative edge 20 years after its off-Broadway debut. Directed by The Gamm’s associate artistic director Rachel Walshe, the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning drama invites audiences into the murky realm of moral uncertainty. 

Set against the backdrop of the 1960s America, Doubt: A Parable stages a gripping showdown between Sister Aloysius, a staunchly conservative Catholic school principal played by Phyllis Kay, and Father Flynn, a progressive and charismatic priest portrayed by Benjamin Grills. The drama intensifies when Sister Aloysius suspects Father Flynn of misconduct with a troubled young man, who is also the school's first Black student, sparking a profound conflict over beliefs and values.

John Patrick Shanley's script engages the audience with rich, layered dialogue, pushing them to question their own assumptions and biases. The tension is palpable throughout, making every moment of the play an intense psychological exploration.
