These Walls Can Talk: Celebrating Doris Duke as Tastemaker

Posted by NRFMedia

Fine and decorative arts connoisseur, fashion icon, and preservationist, Doris Duke (1912-1993) left an indelible mark on all things design. Design New England magazine channeled her astute taste and style for a cover story that turned Kravet's latest line of fabrics into clothing Duke would have loved. Local jewelers provided exquisite accessories, and the pairings were staged for the article in rooms personally curated by Duke at her beloved Newport Estate, Rough Point, now owned by the Newport Restoration Foundation.

See and hear how the project came together with the DNE team, led by Art Director Jenna Talbott and Contributing Writer Meaghan O'Neill. Jewelry makers Thea Izzi, Diana Hall, Kevin Duris, Katie Whittemore of Haarstick Jewelry, Elise Moran of EAM Studio, and Tamar Kern of Alloy Gallery will show examples of their work. Learn about Duke's collection of fine and decorative arts from museum staff and tour the house and grounds of this breathtaking waterfront property.

This is a Design Week RI event.
