There are concerts you go to, and then there are concerts that feel like history in the making, and this November, Mohegan Sun Arena is aiming squarely for the latter.
To celebrate its 25th anniversary, the Uncasville venue will welcome legendary rock band
Metallica for two nights of high-voltage performances on Thursday, November 19, and Saturday, November 21. The shows mark the band’s first-ever appearance at Mohegan Sun Arena and their first Connecticut performance since 1998, making the moment feel both long overdue and perfectly timed.
In true Metallica fashion, the band is bringing its fan-favorite No Repeat Weekend format to the arena, meaning each night will feature entirely different setlists and opening acts. Suicidal Tendencies will take the stage on Thursday, while Spiritbox joins Saturday’s lineup, giving fans two distinct experiences across the weekend.
“Metallica’s first-ever performance at Mohegan Sun Arena is a truly special moment as we celebrate the venue’s 25th anniversary,” said Jeff Hamilton, President and General Manager of Mohegan Sun. “The 10,000-seat Mohegan Sun Arena has been home to so many unforgettable moments, hosting more than 3,000 events and welcoming over 15 million guests in its history. We couldn’t be more excited to honor that legacy by welcoming one of the most iconic rock bands ever and celebrating this milestone with fans.”
Since opening in 2001, Mohegan Sun Arena has built a reputation as one of the country’s most versatile entertainment venues, hosting everyone from Beyoncé to Bruce Springsteen while earning multiple “Arena of the Year” honors. This anniversary moment adds another headline-worthy chapter to its story.
As for Metallica, the numbers speak for themselves. With over 125 million albums sold and a catalog that has defined generations of rock, the band continues to draw massive crowds worldwide, including more than 1.3 million members in its dedicated fan club. Tickets are on sale now, with limited two-day packages still available for fans looking to experience both nights.
