Mohegan Sun is turning 30 this month, and the Uncasville, Connecticut resort is planning a celebration worthy of the milestone. Two October weekends are bringing major concerts to the arena, along with a free Wolf Den show, a birthday bash, and special food and drink offerings throughout the property.
The musical lineup is especially impressive. Alanis Morissette kicks things off October 2, followed by Foo Fighters on October 4. Connecticut native John Mayer returns to his home state for an October 9 show, his first there since the 2023 Sound on Sound festival in Bridgeport. Country star Lainey Wilson takes the arena stage October 10, and DJ Cassidy wraps up the concert series October 11 with Pass The Mic Live!, featuring Busta Rhymes, Fat Joe, Ja Rule, Jadakiss and Nelly.
If there’s one day to circle on the calendar, it’s October 10. Along with Wilson’s arena show, Flo Rida performs a free concert at the Wolf Den at 8pm. The show is open to guests 21 and older, with seating available on a first-come, first-served basis. The party continues at 10 p.m. in the Uncas Ballroom, where DJ Cassidy hosts a ticketed birthday celebration with an Art Deco theme and open bar. 50 Cent is expected to perform a few hits, while Summer House personality Kyle Cooke will take a turn at the DJ booth. Guests can also watch celebrity arrivals on the red carpet outside MJ23 Sports Bar & Grill. The party is for ages 21 and older.
There’s plenty happening beyond the concerts. A pop-up birthday bar in the Sky Tower Lobby will serve anniversary cocktails October 1–12. Throughout the month, a “Signature Stroll” will revisit dishes inspired by former Mohegan Sun restaurants, including lobster fritters in tribute to Uncas American Indian Grill and clams casino recalling The Longhouse. Dining and shopping specials are also planned across the resort.
For those feeling lucky, the anniversary lineup includes a $30,000 guaranteed poker tournament on October 10, a sportsbook contest with a $30,000 top prize, and a $100,000 slot tournament on October 11. Craft Beer fans will enjoy the Sun BrewFest, returning to the Uncas Ballroom on October 3. The afternoon event features craft beverage tastings, food, live music from Connecticut band The Rakes, line dancing and competitions ranging from cornhole to stein hoisting.
Mohegan Sun first welcomed guests on October 12, 1996. The resort grew substantially five years later with the addition of Mohegan Sun Arena, Sky Tower, Casino of the Sky and The Shops at Mohegan Sun. The arena has a birthday of its own coming up – it turns 25 in November, with two Metallica concerts planned to mark the occasion.
