A milestone birthday usually calls for cake, but Mohegan Sun is going with arena rock, country star power, hip-hop nostalgia, and a few thousand people singing along instead. The Uncasville resort turns 30 this October, and its celebration gives music fans a reason to build a fall weekend around a ticket stub. For Rhode Islanders, it’s an easy excuse to turn a regular weekend into a concert road trip, with dinner, a show, and the kind of ride home that comes with a full-volume recap.
The two-weekend lineup at Mohegan Sun Arena covers a lot of musical ground without asking anyone to pick a lane. Alanis Morissette opens the celebration Friday, October 2 at 8 PM, bringing the kind of cathartic singalong that still makes a room lean in. Foo Fighters follow Sunday, October 4 at 7:30 PM with a rock show built for people who prefer their birthday parties loud.
The second weekend shifts from guitar-driven favorites to country heat and throwback party mode. Connecticut native John Mayer performs Friday, October 9 at 8 PM, followed by Lainey Wilson on Saturday, October 10 at 7:30 PM. Then DJ Cassidy’s Pass The Mic Live! makes its Connecticut debut Sunday, October 11 at 8 PM with Busta Rhymes, Fat Joe, Ja Rule, Jadakiss, and Nelly, a lineup ready to turn the Arena into memory lane with better lighting.
For Mohegan Sun, the birthday doubles as a look back at three decades of bringing major entertainment to the region. “Over the past three decades, Mohegan Sun has grown into one of the most successful and highest-grossing tribal gaming destinations in the country, continually evolving to deliver exceptional entertainment and guest experiences,” says Jeff Hamilton, president and general manager of Mohegan Sun.
The celebration isn’t finished announcing itself, either. Hamilton notes that “many more events and promotions will be announced this summer,” so the October lineup is only part of the larger 30th birthday reveal.
