Old-School Charm Meets New Menu Offerings at Kay's in Woonsocket

Join the Dames Who Dine as they savor timeless classics and fresh additions at this northern RI staple

Kay’s Restaurant, located on the east side of Woonsocket, has been serving lunch and dinner since 1968. The Dames Who Dine duo – comprising myself and longtime Rhode Island foodie Melissa – set out for a Friday night adventure to enjoy some old-school classics at a venue that’s been around for almost 60 years.

Melissa, who had first visited several years ago, expected the unique napkin menu with just three sandwich options: steak, tuna fish, and ham. We were pleasantly surprised to discover that, along with the paper napkin sandwiches, there’s now also a full menu featuring their classic staples and rotating dishes.

We started with two of our favorite classic drinks from the full bar: a Cosmopolitan and Manhattan, which we enjoyed with the Clams Casino appetizer. For an entree, Melissa chose their classic Cheesesteak Sandwich. As the new gal in town, I went with Lobster Grilled Cheese, served on Texas Toast and loaded with so much lobstah that I gasped when the plate arrived. Both dishes were delicious and filling, but we couldn't resist ordering crème brûlée for dessert!

As we enjoyed new and old favorite dishes, the lively restaurant buzzed with other diners doing the same. Our friendly, attentive server did not disappoint, either.

Whether to order online or enjoy their outdoor dining area just across the street, we’ll definitely make a return visit. With reasonable pricing, welcoming service, and filling portions, it’s the trifecta of a fantastic culinary experience. To learn more, visit KaysRestaurant.com
