Museum Concerts' 60th anniversary season opens with Rhode Island’s own Providence Baroque Orchestra, led by violinist Daniel Lee, performing works by three beloved titans of the Baroque era: Corelli, Handel, and Vivaldi.
Corelli’s Concerti Grossi, Op. 6, helped establish an important new musical form. Handel and Vivaldi created their own explorations of the form. Providence Baroque Orchestra explores this delightful musical tradition as well as featuring rising countertenor Sam Higgins in a performance of Vivaldi’s moving Stabat Mater. Higgins has been recognized nationally for his “innate musicality” and “ethereal tone”and is currently pursuing a master’s degree at the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music.
