Shay Mitchell reveals she, Matte Babel expecting baby no. 2 a week after grandmother's death

Shay Mitchell and Matte Babel will soon be a family of four.

The "You" actress, 34, took to Instagram on Monday to reveal that she and her boyfriend, 41, are expecting to welcome their second baby together.

The announcement comes one week after Mitchell opened up on Instagram about the death of her grandmother, whom she called "Gram."

"Saying goodbye to a loved one while simultaneously experiencing the joy of welcoming another into this world is the great cycle of life," she wrote Monday, along with photos showing off her baby bump. "It is also my most challenging season to date. I can’t help but think this was the universe’s plan all along, knowing I would need other worldly joy to cushion the blow of losing one of the most important people in my life."

Mitchell added that she sees her pregnancy as "proof that love, life and loss can profoundly exist all at the same time."

"Gram, I miss you every day," she continued. "Little one, we are so excited to meet you. I breathe a sigh of peace knowing you two are already connected in such a cosmic way."

Mitchell documented her first pregnancy, which included a dramatic delivery in 2019, in her YouTube series "Almost Ready." In the show's sixth episode, she revealed she was in labor for 33 hours.
