Super Dog Adoption Day Brings 300-Plus Dogs to Matunuck

Always Adopt returns to Clark Farms November 7 with regional rescues, early-entry options, and hundreds of potential matches waiting to meet their people

A rescue profile can cover the basics, from age and breed to whether a dog prefers couches or long walks, but chemistry tends to reveal itself in person. On November 7, prospective adopters will have more than 300 chances to test that theory when Super Dog Adoption Day returns to Clark Farms in Matunuck. Rescue organizations and shelters from around the region will gather in one place, giving visitors the unusual opportunity to meet dogs from multiple groups without turning the search for a new companion into a weekend-long driving tour.

That setup makes the day as practical as it is potentially distracting. Visitors can spend time with available dogs, speak directly with rescue representatives, and complete adoption applications and screenings at the event, so a promising introduction doesn’t have to end with a note to “look them up later.”

Always Adopt founder Louise Anderson Nicolosi says those individual meetings remain at the heart of the organization’s work. “We’ve helped thousands of dogs find homes, but it’s the individual connections that remind us why we do this,” she says. Since its founding in 2013, the Rhode Island organization has helped more than 8,500 dogs find permanent homes through its events and rescue partnerships.

For adopters who already know they’re serious about meeting a new family member, a complimentary Golden Ticket offers a head start. Registered guests can enter at 10 a.m., two hours before general admission, and complete adoption applications in advance, leaving more time for the part that can’t be handled on paperwork: seeing which dog actually clicks. General admission runs from noon to 4 p.m. and remains free.

With hundreds of dogs gathered at Clark Farms, plenty of introductions will happen over four hours. The important one may still come down to a single dog deciding to sit a little closer than the rest. Super Dog Adoption Day takes place Saturday, November 7, at Clark Farms, 2984 Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry Memorial Highway in Matunuck. Visit AlwaysAdopt.com for Golden Ticket registration, participating-dog updates, and event information.
