The Connecticut Pickle Festival Brings Briny Fun to Mohegan Sun

More than 40 vendors, unlimited samples, pickle wrestling, and live music headline the August event

Some food trends disappear almost as quickly as they show up online, but pickles have only gotten louder. From cocktails and pizza to snacks that sound like they started as a dare, the dill obsession is still going strong. From August 21 through 23, the Connecticut Pickle Festival brings that enthusiasm to Mohegan Sun’s Earth Expo & Convention Center for three days of food, music, contests, and unapologetically briny fun.

More than 40 vendors and food trucks will fill the festival, giving guests plenty of ways to test just how far one ingredient can go. The Pickle Patch offers unlimited samples from makers across the country, while the food lineup moves from familiar favorites like fried pickles and pickle pizza to Kool-Aid pickles, pickle shaved ice, and pickle-topped ice cream.

The weekend doesn’t stop at sampling, either. The festival leans fully into the theme with contests, cocktails, live music, and just enough chaos to make the whole thing feel more like a pickle-powered party than a traditional food event.

Returning competitions include the Pickle Eating Contest, Pickle Juice Challenge, Pickle Olympics, and Pickle Wrestling. Some guests may arrive ready to compete. Others will be perfectly happy watching from a safe distance with a snack in hand.

Pickle Pablo will also be back on festival duty, roaming the floor, posing for photos, and dancing through the crowd. The larger-than-life mascot has become part of the experience, mostly because few things say “weekend plans” quite like meeting a costumed pickle at Mohegan Sun.

New this year, the Pickle Hoedown adds line dancing and country music to the mix. Pickle Pablo will make appearances there, too, proving his schedule is somehow busier than everyone else’s.

Live country, pop, and rock performances continue throughout the weekend. Guests 21 and older can also sip pickle martinis, pickle shots, and pickle-infused cocktails between bites, though traditional drinks will be available for anyone who reaches their daily dill limit.

Whether visitors put pickles on everything or simply need to see pickle wrestling for themselves, the festival offers a solid excuse to embrace the wonderfully weird.

Whether you're the type of person who puts pickles on everything or you're simply curious to see what pickle wrestling actually looks like, this is one of those weekends that's less about taking yourself seriously and more about embracing the wonderfully weird. The Connecticut Pickle Festival takes place August 21-23 at Mohegan Sun's Earth Expo & Convention Center, with free parking available for guests.
