Labor Day weekend usually comes with an unspoken assignment: fit in one more very summery thing before everyone starts discussing cider doughnuts. Track 15 has an appropriately Rhode Island suggestion involving oysters, martinis, and an afternoon on the plaza.
On Saturday, September 5, the downtown Providence food hall will host its first Oyster Darty from noon to 4 PM. The daytime party puts Dune Brothers in the spotlight with freshly shucked oysters and littlenecks sourced from different farms, plus grilled and fried oysters for anyone who prefers their shellfish with a little more intervention.
Naturally, there will be something cold to wash it all down. Narragansett Beer joins Track 15’s Salty Brine Martini among the featured pairings, making the afternoon feel less like the end of summer and more like a reason to postpone acknowledging it.
DJ Lefty will soundtrack the party while a small makers market brings the oyster theme beyond the raw bar. Rhodey Wild Sea Gardens, Sea Change Ceramics, Shore Line Creations RI, and Azure will set up with locally made crafts and art, giving visitors something to browse between rounds of shellfish.
The action unfolds on Track 15’s outdoor plaza at historic Union Station, where the food hall already brings several Rhode Island restaurants under one roof. For this particular Saturday, though, the focus shifts decisively toward the coast.
The weekend doesn’t wrap there. On Sunday, September 6, Track 15 brings back its RI Night Market from 4-9 PM just ahead of that evening’s full WaterFire lighting. It offers an easy excuse to stretch the unofficial end of summer into a second downtown outing. Both events are free and open to the public, with food and beverages available for purchase.
