If spring in Rhode Island had a hometown headquarters, it might just be Wickford Village.

Each April, the historic North Kingstown waterfront neighborhood bursts into color as thousands of daffodils bloom along Brown Street, Main Street, and the village’s postcard-worthy sidewalks. This year, Wickford Village Daffodil Days returns April 9-12, bringing four days of family-friendly festivities, live music, and small-town charm to one of Rhode Island’s most beloved coastal destinations.

“It’s really about celebrating spring and bringing the community together,” organizers with the Wickford Village Association say. “People come for the flowers, but they stay for the charm of the village.”

Festivities begin Thursday evening with Sip & Stroll from 5-8pm. Visitors can wander through the village, popping into participating shops for small bites and refreshing sips while enjoying the crisp spring air. Keep an eye on storefront windows for signs marking participating businesses.

Saturday’s lineup offers a full day of activities for all ages. At 10am, local historian Tim Cranston will lead a guided tour titled Walk the Wickford Walk with the Guy Who Wrote It. The stroll begins at Updike Park and explores the stories behind the village’s historic streets and buildings.

Updike Park also becomes a hub of family fun from 10am-1pm with pony rides, a petting zoo, and face painting courtesy of Sheffield Way Farm.

At noon, one of the weekend’s most beloved traditions takes center stage. The Daffy Dog Parade invites pups dressed in their springtime finest to parade through the village. The procession begins at Yes! Gallery and wraps up at Flatfish Cottage, where every four-legged participant receives a treat and prizes are awarded to the most delightfully “daffy” dogs.

Throughout the weekend, visitors can also enjoy live music, food trucks, sidewalk chalk art for kids, horse-drawn carriage rides along the waterfront, and even an electronic waste recycling event on Sunday. For the full schedule of events and updates, visit wickfordvillage.org
