Historic Rhodes on the Pawtuxet was transformed into a vibrant celebration of Rhode Island creativity on May 13, as artisans, makers, and shoppers gathered for the inaugural Hey Rhody Market. Guests wandered through rows of vendor tables displaying handmade jewelry, fresh flowers, clothing, home décor, original artwork, specialty foods, wellness products, and a live pottery demo, while live music and dance performances filled the 110-year-old venue with energy, movement, and a strong sense of community.
The market reflects Hey Rhody Media’s ongoing commitment to spotlighting entrepreneurs, artists, and small businesses across Rhode Island. Over 1,000 visitors mingled, sampled products, discovered over 60 new small businesses, and enjoyed the festive social atmosphere that has become a hallmark of Hey Rhody events.
A classical quartet offered a preview of the Kingston Chamber Music Festival (July 22-August 2 in Kingston), alongside a performance from the State Ballet of Rhode Island, still helmed by Herci Marsden. In addition, a fashion show from East Bay-based Beau Bleu Boutique & Gifts previewed casual wear and patriotic styles perfect for 250th celebrations. Look for an announcement and date of next year’s Hey Rhody Market later this summer. Until then, continue to support local every day!
