Raise a Glass to Goslings Rum and Kiel James Patrick’s Limited-Edition Summer Capsule Collection

Posted

If someone were tasked with calculating the number of gallons of Goslings Rum consumed in Newport since the Bermudian spirit first arrived in the U.S. in 1980, they might borrow a line from Lindsay Lohan's character in Mean Girls: "The limit does not exist!"

Goslings, a family business based in Bermuda for more than two centuries, has long been best associated stateside with the Dark ’n Stormy cocktail – a stalwart at Newport bars and beyond solidified by the Newport Bermuda Race, the oldest regularly scheduled ocean race since 1906. The drink, simply made with dark rum (typically Goslings Black Seal Rum) and ginger beer, has been the traditional go-to libation for many an aprés-regatta in the City by the Sea, whether to celebrate victory or drown sorrows in defeat.

While the Newport Bermuda Race unfolded this month, Goslings has partnered with Newport-based Kiel James Patrick (KJP) on a limited-edition Summer 2026 Capsule Collection celebrating the century-plus connection between Newport and Bermuda. For Malcolm L. Gosling Jr., an eighth-generation rum maker at Goslings, coupling the two brands, both deeply intertwined with coastal culture, makes perfect sense.

“Newport and Bermuda have always seemed to speak the same language,” said Gosling Jr., “There’s a natural ease between the two places, built on boats, long weekends, gracious hosting, and a proper Dark ’N Stormy®. Kiel James Patrick understands that world instinctively, and this partnership is a fitting way to bring it to life.”

The limited-edition collection features classic nautical apparel and accessories designed for life on and off the water. Clothing and accessories, many of which feature the rum’s iconic black seal balancing a keg of rum on its nose. Visit the shop on Newport’s Bowen’s Wharf for the full KJP-meets-Goslings experience.
