“When my husband bought me my first sewing machine, I had just moved from Connecticut to Rhode Island and was searching for a new hobby,” Caldarone recalls. “The first item I made was an insulated coffee cuff, purely out of necessity. I’m a slow coffee drinker, and these cuffs kept my coffee hot or cold just a little longer. Friends tried them and loved them, which inspired me to take the plunge and start Seams Pretty.”

From those humble beginnings, Seams Pretty has blossomed into a beloved brand known for its unique and stylish designs. Caldarone’s creative process is as meticulous as it is inspired. Each month, she unveils new releases on the Seams Pretty Instagram page, delighting her followers with fresh themes and seasonal prints. “I usually start with one fabric print I love and build a collection around it,” Caldarone explains. “The process involves ironing, cutting, tracing, sewing, packaging, and listing on Etsy. It’s a routine I’ve perfected over time, often while listening to podcasts or watching reality TV.”

Customer service is at the core of Seams Pretty’s success. Caldarone takes pride in prompt communication and swift shipping, guaranteeing that every customer feels appreciated and listened to. “Maintaining a Star Seller status on Etsy reflects the dedication I invest in ensuring each interaction is favorable,” she explains. “I aim for my customers to experience the same joy I feel when they receive their orders.”

Instagram has been a game-changer for Seams Pretty, enabling Caldarone to connect with customers and showcase her products in everyday settings. “My coffee cuffs in use, tagged in customers' photos, really warms my heart,” she shares. “[Instagram] is a positive, light-hearted space where I can build excitement around new releases and gauge which fabrics will be the most popular.”

Looking to the future, Caldarone is excited about the latest chapter of Seams Pretty. “I’ve started designing my own fabrics, turning my ideas into drawings, then into fabric, and finally into coffee cuffs. It’s surreal to see my concepts come to life,” she enthuses. Additionally, the shop now features stickers, with the “Iced Coffee Club” design being a fan favorite.
