Summer might be in the rearview, but Newport is just hitting its stride. With the air crisp, the ocean sparkling, and the city alive with festivals and flavors, fall on The Classic Coast is a celebration all its own.
“It’s no secret that Newport’s autumn charm and crisp weather make it the perfect backdrop for our growing annual festivals and fall activities,” said Victoria Cimino, president and CEO of Discover Newport. “Visitors can enjoy seasonal fun and an abundance of experiences that capture the very best of The Classic Coast.”
The season kicked off in style at Sakonnet Vineyards, where the 50th Anniversary Harvest Celebration welcomed guests for two days of wine, live music, and family-friendly fun. The festivities continue with the 34th Annual Bowen’s Wharf Seafood Festival on October 18–19, a beloved tradition serving up Rhode Island favorites like stuffies, lobster rolls, clam cakes, and plenty of freshly shucked oysters.
On October 19, Newport Vineyards will toast its 30th anniversary with the Cheers to 30 Years Harvest Festival, featuring grape stomping, a Stein Hoisting Contest, live music, and roasted fall dishes by Executive Chef Andy Teixeira. Later in the month, the Ghosts of the American Revolution Halloween Soirée at The Vanderbilt will add a haunted touch to the city’s Gilded Age grandeur on October 31.
For those who prefer their fall feasts a little less spooky, Newport Restaurant Week returns November 7-16, serving up 10 days of prix-fixe menus across the city’s top restaurants.
Beyond the festivals, there’s no shortage of ways to embrace the season. Cozy up in a seaside sauna at Third Beach, pedal through lantern-lit Rail Explorers tours, or wander through Newport’s farms and orchards for pumpkin picking and warm cider donuts.
With its mix of coastal beauty, culinary brilliance, and cozy autumn energy, Newport proves that fall on The Classic Coast is paradise by the sea. Find the full lineup of events at DiscoverNewport.org.
