Dynamic, high energy, hard working, unstoppable, big thinker. These are the words used to describe Lisa Konicki, president of the Ocean Community Chamber of Commerce. In October Lisa marked her 25 year anniversary in the role, and despite a long list of accomplishments, she continues to demonstrate an indefatigable energy.
For Lisa, a career highlight was raising over $430,000 to give as small business grants during Superstorm Sandy. In 2020 she helped small shops during lockdown with live remote shopping programs to share on the Chamber’s Facebook page. She’s proud that OCCC has the largest chamber of commerce gift certificate program in New England, with sales topping $265,000 in 2021. And did you visit the Stonington Lobster Trap Tree? This project was another one of Lisa’s ideas. “It has done a great deal to support the arts and bring joy to the community,” says Lisa with glee of the attraction which boasted 20,000 visitors and was named “One of the 18 most amazing Christmas trees in the world” by BBC News.
“With the support of the Board, I’ve been able to introduce and implement bold ideas, impactful member benefits, and new community traditions.” says Lisa. “I’m passionate about making a difference and take great pride in the results we have been able to achieve to support the business community.”
